A blog in motion stays in motion.

I miss having a place to put my photos, I don't miss the pressure bomb of writing a story to match. Of course it's the writing bit that gives me the most satisfaction. My friend Logan says you know you're a writer when you love it but hate it even more. (Or maybe I said that? We said it together.) It other words- not today, kiddos. LOOK AT THESE ROSES! They are all from Elmwood in June.

roses7 June is a bit of a floral cliche at this point. Peonies are your favorite flower? You want them in your bouquet in October? Yes yes yes yes yes.... Peonies ahhhh, I get it, they are beautiful.

But when facing down June, soft fluffy sweet ruffly June, that professional iciness melts into soft pink ruffly bliss for a bit. An obvious choice, but obvious choices are obvious when it comes to June. We are long past those days now and I'm missing them. (Obviously.)

  1. I've been missing Elmwood posts. We're looking for an old house in the country right now and I often think of how much I would like it to look and feel like your Elmwood.

I'm missing those days too. I can feel a slight change coming on and would love to have June back. :)

  2. I'm the same way - I love having a place to post my photos, but sometimes hate having to write the content. Even though I love to write as well. "A blog in motion stays in motion." is a great motto to keep though!

  3. haha. Totally. My personal blog is a shriveled apple that is always nibbling at my hand, but sometimes I just don't feel like apples. And so. :)

  4. It's such a bummer to have photos dying for a blog post but no words to go with them. Of course, you know the words need to come. And eventually, they always do.

  5. Beautiful photographs. My husband asked me this morning why I don't write more - that I'm good at it. I told him that I hate it. So yes, I agree with you/Logan.

    1. My husband and I had that exact conversation a week or so ago so I wrote a post that I was really happy with, he said 'I told you so' and now I'm back feeling stuck.

  11. Very much relate to the first paragraph. Nothing more intimidating than a batch of beautiful pictures you desperately want to share with people, paired with a loud, blank, white screen blinking boredly back up at you....

  14. My mother's garden was full of stunning peonies this year, but I missed them unfortunately. We always make bouquets of them that I photograph, and it is one of my favorite things to do.

  19. Amazingly exquisite photos, as well as excellent writing. I too have a love hate relationship with peonies. I love their look, feel, and scent, but am extremely tired of people requesting them all year long. How do I explain to them that the lush and plush peonies they see on Pinterest are simply not available all year long!

  20. I just want to say, you take the most beautiful flower photos I've ever seen. I used to read your blog every day when I had lots of free time at work and now I don't have that anymore, so I'm here much less often, but every so often I think - "I need to see some of those flower photos and catch up with what Amy is up to..." I think yours is one of two blogs that has a pull on me like that, to make me remember to read it at home. I'm always glad to see it's still here. :)

  21. I love the way the first photo looks like someone tossed a bunch of flowers up in the air like caps at a graduation - they look like they've been captured mid-flight, not lying on a table.
