2013

I've been quietly wishing you a happy new year ever since the thing actually happened a few weeks ago. I felt like I owed you a greatest hits of sorts, a highest highs and lowest lows. I fell in love, had a brief battle with bed bugs, I feasted and famined. You know- life happened. I've done a lot of private introspection and think I'll leave it at that. It was a ride, and I am still a little wobbly on my feet.

I want to ask myself a single question this year. What am I doing now, I mean now now, to actualize some of my wild, untended and half-formed hopes for the distant future. A lot of self-kindness and self-awareness are in order, too.  And now we march forward into the fray.

  6. Laughed a little to read "fell in love and bed bugs" in the same breath. I'm new to this space of yours and find it to be such a lovely wisp of fresh air. Your recent work in Kindred was gorgeous. I've been a lover of flowers since well, always, but your fresh design has inspired me. Thanks for that and happy new year! I look forward to following along.

  13. That photo perfectly captures the "other" New Year's feeling... the one of looking back at what needs to be swept up from the floor of the previous year before new projects can begin.

  18. “Patience never wants Wonder to enter the house: because Wonder is a wretched guest. It uses all of you but is not careful with what is most fragile or irreplaceable. If it breaks you, it shrugs and moves on. Without asking, Wonder often brings along dubious friends: doubt, jealousy, greed. Together they take over; rearrange the furniture in every one of your rooms for their own comfort. They speak odd languages but make no attempt to translate for you. They cook strange meals in your heart that leave odd tastes and smells. When they finally go are you happy or miserable? Patience is always left holding the broom.”

  20. Sounds like a plan...remember, when you are focusing on the self awareness piece of the pie, how much joy and pleasure your flowers and images have brought to me and so many others.
