This whole past week I've been resolutely pretending that I haven't been wallpapering my bathroom. What if it turned out horribly? I'd have to hang my head in internet shame. What if i decided I hated the 1940s paper? Then I'd feel all judged. What if I couldn't get a decent picture because there's no natural light? What if no one wants to sit next to me at lunch time? Or play with me at recess? or sign my yearbook?

Whatever. Here it is. And i like it. So there.
Okay, so maybe it's more girly then I bargained for but at least I live alone and am not inflicting its awesome grandma-ness on any boys. And this photo is awful. My cabinet door is open in the kitchen and I need to unplug the power drill. I'm only showing this to you because we're friends. Okay? Okay.

lol. LOVE the posting and love the wall paper for sure!!! Great job!
ReplyDeletewell done! is it vintage? did you have to do it the old fashioned way...apply the paste to it? I've been wanting to wallpaper but haven't yet.
ReplyDeletethe power drill cord matches the painting. well done!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome. I love the colors and it has a great retro/mod feel.
ReplyDeleteThe portrait of FDR over the bathtub is an interesting choice. ;)
ReplyDeleteEmerson. It is beyond fabulous, reminiscent of this awesome little hotel I stayed in while visiting Paris called the Hotel de Nice.
ReplyDeleteNice job!
It's Wilson, not FDR.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, bright kitchen! And how great is it right now for me to know that other people keep their cupboard doors open as well. *chuckle* Hubby is always clocking himself on ours, thanks to yours truly. I like the bathroom, too. Feminine, but not frilly.
ReplyDeleteIs Wilson lonely without all his other president buddies to keep him company? Too bad, I love it! It's balances out the grandmaness perfectly...or maybe it adds to it, I'm not sure. But I love it!
ReplyDeleteSince we're friends, then I guess I'll sit next to you at lunch even with your Grandma bathroom!
No excuses, miss, this is the wallpaper dreams are made of! Amy, you never fail to impress!
ReplyDeletethat turned out really cute!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this. It's great!
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI promise to sign your yearbook and still sit next to you at lunch ;) I'm anti wallpaper but yours looks great!
ReplyDeletei love the wall paper! there is no need to be ashamed of the grandma status of it. I heart it.
ReplyDeletei love the picture inside the unhinged door on your wall. i may have to copy you...
... and as a friend i say ... it is very you emerson ... and if it makes you smile, it makes me smile ... that's what friends are for ...
ReplyDeletecheers,
prairiegirl
it's so good!!! my eggshell bathroom is jealous :)
ReplyDeletehahahhaha!!! Love your writing style!!! But, more than anything, I LOVE THIS WALLPAPER.
ReplyDeleteI am with Sacaton June....this makes my eggshell bathroom jealous!
Love love love the wallpaper. It was a bold choice but totally works!
ReplyDeleteWallpaper envy ahoy!

it looks really great, and not too girly i think!
ReplyDeleteFriends? Yes. Absolutely.
ReplyDeleteI adore your blog. And your wallpaper.
Do I ruin my manly cred when I say that's some nice wallpaper?
ReplyDeleteBut are we sure that's Wilson? Doesn't look pinched enough.
I am honeslty not a wallpaper fan and promptly removed all wall paper from my house post purchase (save the 70's paper in my second bathroom which haunts me every day).
ReplyDeleteHowever if it looked like what you have put in your bathroom I would have kept it. It's lovely and somehow puts all the judgments I have of wall paper aside.
I'll eat lunch and play with you at recess. For sure.

Love it! Pretty please, let us in on your wallpaper source so we can join in the fun?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what you are talking about because this is fabulous! Like, high voice, FABULOUS! LOVE it. hehe
ReplyDeletelooks good to me. have no fear, your popularity is assured.
ReplyDeleteLiving with husband and toddler, this post let's me live alone vicariously through you! Thanks. I love our new wallpaper;)
ReplyDeleteI love the way you write. It doesn't matter what you say... I feel like we are best friends sitting in front of that glowing fireplace at your beloved Elmwood. You write like we think. Coming from you it sounds inviting, intimate and charming. If i talked/wrote like that, surely it would sound insecure! How do you do it? How can you be so authentic?
ReplyDeleteI join the Fan Club for those who love your wallpaper choice. So very cute. Stylish and HAPPY!
I bet it was a bit scary, precarious putting it up because the paper was probably fragile, vintage, irreplacable. You did it!!!
Really charming! I am aprox. the same vintage as your paper and have had a love hate relationship with wallpaper over the last 40 years. I was loving the painted walls of the last few years but am now thinking about paper again...will my marriage survive? aarrgghh Jill
ReplyDeleteIt's still amazing! Love the blue.
ReplyDeletemy bathroom still has the multiplication tables painted on the wall in red from when my son was having trouble learning his tables
ReplyDeletehe's now 20
time to be inspired by daisies
Personally I like the power drill in the picture. Proof that you know how to use one and that you actually DO use it!
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeletelooks funny :)

I grew up in Michigan in the 1970s where wall paper was all the rage. We even had that raised green fuzzy desing on flat white wallpaper. Talk about retro.
ReplyDeleteStephen Tremp
You're uh-may-zing.
ReplyDeleteAnd Steel Magnolias!! But I'm super late with that one. I'm going to Natchitoches in early Dec for the holiday festival and I'm losing-my-mind excited about it. I'm gonna pull a Darryl Hannah and start squealing about my contact in the middle of the crowd. NOBODY MUUUVE! MAH CONTACT!
Oh here I am so new here, so old here, well at least after be back here I found great blogs to follow, as yours, I'll keep reading the old posts.
ReplyDeleteJ.
i'm afraid as soon as i wallpaper anything, i will want to peel it off. and keep peeling. until i can see every last layer that the wall has to offer.
ReplyDeletewow looks amazing! Where do you find good wallpaper that isn't insanely expensive?? You are inspiring me to channel my inner grandma even more than I already do. The number of quilts I have is ridiculous
ReplyDeleteWonderful. And I'll take an order my own self!
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for some great wallpaper to apply to furniture surfaces.
Any great vintage outlets you've come across?
