today is the day.....

Elmwood

Ok, sweet friends. Here's the deal. I have butterflies in my stomach because today is my first day as an editor on the mother of all blogs, design*sponge.

I couldn't believe it, either.

I'm going to be cooking up weekly DIY projects, interviews and product roundups based on my (and your!) favorite movies and books. First up, naturally, is a tribute to Karen Blixen. I'm having first day jitters so please please stop by and say hello!

  6. oops, there were misspellings in the last . . .

'Nway, congratulations!! I (like everyone else) LOVE design*sponge, and I adore your blog. In my book, more of Emerson's thoughts and observations can only be a good thing.

Now to find my inner elegant safari girl . . . or just finally watch "Out of Africa".

  15. Love it. I'll be reading you on there as well.
You know, I've been to Karen Blixen's house in Kenya, it's really wonderful :) For that film, the outside is the actual house, but the inside isn't. The rooms are too small to fit cameras in.
I wanted to comment here because there are so many more comments on design*sponge, I thought you might miss it :)

  18. congratulations! well, this must be serendipity - this is my first time to your blog via d*s. out of africa is my ALL TIME favorite movie; it's watched in our house at least half a dozen times a year (in fact it's in our dvd player as we speak) and always once at christmas. my fiance and i were out at the flea markets this past weekend looking for a gramophone to buy for our upcoming wedding...inspired by the one in the movie. plus, we are headed to safari for our honeymoon. and i'm commenting here for the same reason as Erin G. above. :)

  19. Two words: DREAM GIG. But you're perfect for D*S, and your inaugural column was amazing! The canteen set and bed frame kind of broke my heart, though. ;]

  30. Amy congrats on being a design sponge editor looking forward to your posts. If I could live in a movie it might have to be the Belle Epoque apartment Michelle Pheifer lived in in the movie Cheri. It was perfection itself. But I do have a weakness for Amelie I watch it once a year and love the whole french style of it. I always considered myself an Anglophile but maybe I'm really a Francopile...Lindee
