Boaters

I think admitting out loud my lust for straw-hat weather has made it much worse.

It's freeeezing outside and all I can do to stay warm is ogle these boaters from my favorite accessories inspiration source, a good old fashioned dover pictorial. Don't get me wrong, I love a floppy french straw hat, but I think this summer I'm going to be all about the boater.

Especially the little one, it looks straight out of my favorite John Singer Sargent painting at the MET. Oh, how I was born into the wrong time.

  2. Me too! I have been wearing my hat around inside my house for the last couple of weeks. I wish that I could go outdoors with it, but I'd look like a fool in the snow.

  5. You are correct about the straw hat in winter (oh your poor ears would be cold!), but one can always finagle a straw bag into a winter ensemble. I do it all the time and it makes me darn happy! life is too short to only wear straw 6 months out of the year...

  6. Lovely pictures. I found my dad's old boater when we moved house this summer, and refused to allow him to give it to a charity shop thank goodness!

  7. Just hearing about Anne of Green Gables makes me smile. Our favorite family trip was to Prince Edward Island where we went to all her old haunts and houses. AHHH so beautiful.

Can't you just picture Amy in Anne's boater hat overlooking Prince Edward Island?
