Get out! There's a real Ale & Quail? Cf. Preston Sturgis's The Palm Beach Story, where on-the-lam Claudette Colbert (Steven's grandmother?) gets stuck on the southbound train with a passel of drunken millionaire hunters in the Ale & Quail club who shoot up the train car. This movie also has Rudy Vallee saying: "That's one of the tragedies of this life - that the men who are most in need of a beating up are always enormous."

ReplyDeleteMy great uncle roger founded the hancock ale & quail in 1956 and the nearest neighbors STILL leave town that weekend to escape the shotgun blasts.
